What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is based on the priniciple that clients are able to relax into an altered state of consciousness in order to utilise enhanced suggestibility to help treat psychological conditions and effect behavioural changes.
Hypnosis is a collaborative process whereby the client willingly enters into a relaxed state and remains in control of their actions. The client cannot be made to do anything against their will by the hypnotherapist.
Everyone has experienced hypnosis, this could be daydreaming, watching the TV, driving the car and not remembering aspects of the journey, we are simply in a relaxed state.
Hypnosis can be used to help relieve anxiety and aid sleep, help with confidence building, eating habits (not eating disorders), perceived pain control and pain reduction, support clients who have made a commitment to break a habit, address fears and phobias and provide relaxation techniques.
What does it feel like to be hypnotised?
It is a feeling of deep relaxation.
Will I be aware of what's happening?
Whilst you are hypnotised you are in control at all times and you cannot be made to do anything against your will.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
The hypnotherapy process is a collaborative process between the client and the hypnotherapist and as such the client must want to be hypnotised and be committed to the process to enable them to make the necessary changes.
Are the sessions confidential?
Yes, all sessions are confidential, and will be discussed further at the start of the treatment plan.
How many sessions will I need?
Smoking cessation is usually one session, otherwise it is client led dependent on specific issues and progress made.
Can hypnotherapy be provided online?
Yes it can, as long as you are in a quiet and safe space, where you will not be disturbed. Sessions will be provided via Zoom.
Will you turn me into a chicken, or make me do silly things?
These types of antics happen in stage hypnosis for the purpose of entertainment, and I can assure you that would never happen in hypnotherapy. No silly business, my aim is to help you achieve your goals.
